NCHM JEE 2019 Eligibility Criteria and Physical Fitness Requirements

The entrance examination conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHM & CT) will now be conducted by the National Testing Agency from the year 2019. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted for admission to B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration (HHA) course and other related courses. The courses are offered at the affiliated institutions which are:

  • 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs)
  • 21 IHMs run by State Government
  • 20 private institutes
  • 01 Public Sector Undertaking-IHM

The application process for the NCHMCT JEE 2019 exam is active and will remain open till 25th March. So, before applying for the exam, candidates must make sure that they meet the eligibility conditions.

NCHM JEE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Qualifying Examination

Candidate should have passed the 10+2 level of examination or equivalent with English as one of the subjects.

Those appearing in 10+2 examination are also eligible to appear for the NCHM JEE exam. Such candidates are required to submit the proof of passing the qualifying exam at the time of counselling.

Age Limit

 Age Limit varies as per the categories. Here are the details:

Categories Age (as on 1st July 2019)
General and OBC 25 years (born on or after 1st July 1994)
SC and ST 28 years (born on or after 1st July 1991)
PWD As per the category they belong to

“Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate shall be the authentic proof that will be accepted.”

Physical Fitness

The official notification states, “All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate of carrying out practical classes as required in the Course at the time of admission from a registered Medical Practitioner.”


Reservations will apply as per the policies applied by the particular institute. The institutes running under the Central Government have the following policies:

  • 27% of seats are reserved for the OBC Non-Creamy layer category candidates.
  • 15% seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
  • 5% seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
  • Each category will have a 5% reservation for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

No correction will be allowed after the submission of the NCHM JEE application. Thus, candidates are required to fill the category, eligibility details, and other information carefully. The respective institutes will verify the eligibility of the candidate at the time of admissions/counselling. If any candidate will be found ineligible, admission will be denied.

So, candidates are advised to make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.
