NTA NCHM JEE 2019 – Important Dates, Application Process, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Admit Card, and Result

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has covered one more exam under its umbrella – the National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination (NCHM JEE). The exam is conducted for admission to B.Sc. Course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. The National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, offers B.Sc. HHA and 10 other courses through the following institutes:

The National Testing Agency has scheduled the exam on 27th April 2019. The application process for the same has started on 15th January 2019. In a recent update, NTA has extended the last date for application submission till 25th March. Earlier, the last date was 15th March 2019. NCHM JEE 2019 – Important Dates

Here is the official schedule for NCHM JEE 2019 exam as released by the National Testing Agency:

NCHM JEE 2019 Exam Pattern

The duration of the NCHM JEE exam will be 3 hours and 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will be asked from the following sections:

All questions will be of maximum 4 marks. One mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer and no mark will be awarded or deducted for unanswered questions.

NCHM JEE 2019 Syllabus

The National Council for Hotel Management (NCHM) has not prescribed any syllabus for the Joint Entrance Examination. However, experts have suggested the syllabus for the exam after analysing the previous years’ question papers. Candidates have to prepare the topics from the service sector, numerical ability, reasoning, logical deduction, analytical aptitude, and English language. For the preparation of General Knowledge & Current Affairs section, they are required to keep an update of things happening in the country and the world. Newspapers, News Channels, and GK books are the best source of preparation.

NCHM JEE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Before filling the application forms, candidates are advised to make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria for the exam. Here are the eligibility criteria for the exam.

Age Limit

The age limit as on 1st July 2019 must be:

  • For General and OBC category candidates – 25 years (born on or after 1st July 1994)
  • For SC/ST category candidates – 28 years (born on or after 1st July 1991)

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 level of education or equivalent with English as one of the subjects.
  • Those appearing in the 12th class examination are also eligible to apply for the exam. Admission to such candidates will be given only if they pass the qualifying exam (class 12th). The proof of passing the 10+2 or equivalent exam must be submitted at the time of counselling, admission, or by 30th September 2019.

Physical Fitness

Candidates who qualify the NCHM JEE exam are required to submit a physical fitness certificate issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner.

NCHM JEE 2019 Application Process

Interested candidates have to apply for the exam only through the official website from 15th January to 25th March 2019. Application forms will not be accepted through any other mode. Multiple application forms submitted by a candidate will be rejected.

Keep the following things ready to ensure quick application process:

  • All documents/certificates for educational qualification
  • Scanned images of photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format. Photograph size should be between 10 KB – 200 KB and signature size should be between 4 KB – 30 KB.
  • A valid email-id and mobile number
  • Debit card/credit card/Net Banking details for fee payment.

Steps to apply for the NCHM JEE 2019 exam

The application process can be completed in the following steps:

  • Registration
  • Filling the Application Form
  • Uploading Scanned Images
  • Fee Payment

All the above steps can be completed at one go or separately.


  • Go to the official website –
  • Click on ‘Fill Application Form’ button.
  • Under the ‘New Candidate Registration’ section, click on the ‘APPLY’ button.
  • Read the instructions and click on the checkbox at the bottom.
  • Enter your personal details, contact details, choose a password and enter the security pin.
  • Submit the details for successful registration.
  • A system-generated application number will appear on the screen.
  • Keep the application number safe. Using the application number and password, you can log-in to your profile.

Filling the Application Form

Log-in using your application number and password to complete the application form. Provide details related to your educational qualification and others. Re-check all the details before moving ahead.

Uploading Scanned Images

After completing the application form, you will be re-directed to images upload section. Upload the scanned images of your photograph and signature in the designated places. Make sure that the images are uploaded properly as correction facility will not be provided at later stages of the application process.

Fee Payment

Once done with the documents upload, make the fee payment to complete the application process. The fee has to be paid as per the category of the candidate. Here is the fee detail:

The application fee for NCHM JEE 2019 is as follows:

The fee can be submitted through:

  • Syndicate Bank using Net Banking/e-Challan/Debit/Credit Card
  • ICICI Bank using Net Banking/e-Challan/Debit/Credit Card

After the successful payment of the fee, a confirmation page will be generated. Take a print-out of the same.

“Candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s) including Confirmation page to NTA through Post/Fax/By Hand”, states the official notification.

NCHM JEE 2019 Admit Card

Candidates who have successfully submitted the application forms can download their admit cards from 3rd April 2019. Admit Cards/Hall Tickets will be made available only through the official website. Candidates can download the same using their application number and password. Entry to the examination hall will not be allowed without the admit card.

Articles not allowed in the examination centre

As per the official notification, “Candidates are NOT allowed to carry Instrument/Geometry/ Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, Any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables and Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Ear Phone/ Microphone/ Pager, Calculator, Camera, Tape Recorder, any metallic item or electronic gadgets etc. in the examination Room/ Hall.”

Candidates will get rough papers and a Pen/Pencil for calculations at the exam centre. Rough sheets have to be left at the desk.

NCHM JEE 2019 Answer Keys

NCHM JEE 2019 answer keys will be released on the official website along with the recorded responses of the candidates. Candidates will be given an opportunity to challenge the answer key on payment of Rs. 1000/- per question. The final answer key will be released after considering the challenges of the candidates.

NCHM JEE 2019 Result

The result of NCHM JEE 2019 exam will be announced on the official website by 15th May 2019. The result will be released on the basis of the final answer key. Candidates can check the result using their log-in details.

The All India Merit List of the exam will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates.
