Confirmed! NTA to Conduct NEET, JEE Main Twice a Year; Exam Scheduled Announced

Prakash Javadekar confirmed that the newly formed NTA would conduct the competitive exams like NEET and JEE Main twice in a year.

New Delhi/09.07.2018: On Saturday, the Union Education Minister Prakash Javadekar confirmed that the recently formed National Agency Test (NTA), an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organisation, would conduct the competitive exams like NEET and JEE Main twice in a year. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test will be held in February and May, while the Joint Entrance Examination Main will take place in the months of January and April. This move has certainly brought a great relief for aspirants, who will be able to sit for the test twice a year and improve their scores if the first exam doesn’t seem satisfactory.

Exam Schedules for JEE Main 2019, NEET 2019 and UGC NET 2018:

NTA will be releasing the exam schedules for JEE Main, NEET, UGC NET, CMAT and GPAT on its official website. Here’s a sneak peek of the important dates of the competitive exams.

NTA JEE Main 2019 Important Dates:

The JEE Main examination will be conducted twice in a year. The first phase of the exam will be held in January. The second phase of the exam will be conducted in April.

NTA NEET 2019 Important Dates:

NTA is all set to conduct NEET 2019 twice in a year. The first phase of the exam will be held in February. The second phase of the exam will be conducted in May.

It’s confirmed that NTA will conduct the UGC NET exam in December 2018.

Besides NEET and JEE Main, the National Testing Agency is entrusted with the responsibilities of regulating UGC NET, GPAT and CMAT exams. Earlier, the Central Board of Secondary Education was entrusted with the duties of conducting and managing all the above entrance examinations. Prakash Javadekar said on Saturday, “All entrance exams which were conducted by CBSE, such as UGC-NET, JEE Main and NEET, will now be conducted by NTA”.

Exam Standard:

As per the reports, the Agency will regulate the competitive exams in the online mode (CBT). The HRD Ministry said, “This year in JEE Main 2.5 lakh candidates sat for the computer-based exam while the rest took a pen and paper exam. Computers will ensure security, transparency of exams and will be similar to international practice”. Adding to the statement, the Education Minister told the reporters, “There will be no issues of leakage and it would be more student-friendly, open, scientific and a leak-proof system”.

Will There Be Any Changes in Syllabus and Preparation?

Students wouldn’t find any changes in the syllabus, language, fees and question formats for the UGC NET, NEET and JEE Main exams. However, the preparation for the exams would get better since the aspirants would have the option of taking the tests in the online mode.
