The National Eligibility Test (NET) is the minimum eligibility criterion for college and university level lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian students. The national-level entrance examination is held twice a year – June and December. Till recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) administered the exam once a year. From December 2018, the National Testing Agency conducts the exam. The UGC-NET 2019 exam for the December session will be conducted from 2nd to 6th December 2019 through Computer-Based mode.
UGC-NET June 2019 Latest Notification –
NTA has released the admit cards for the UGC NET 2019 December session exam on 10th November 2019. Candidates who have applied for the exam can download their admit cards using the application number and password. Further, the Agency had released a Public Notice (before the June session exam) for the updated ‘UGC-NET 2019 syllabus’. The updated syllabus has been furnished below (see the ‘Syllabus’ section). The same syllabus will be applicable for the December session exam.

UGC-NET 2019 Eligibility
Before going ahead with the NET application process 2019, interested candidates must check their eligibility and ensure they are eligible.
- Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for the examination
Educational Qualification –
- Must have passed Master’s Degree or equivalent from any UGC recognised college/ university
- Should have scored 55% marks in aggregate
- Candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ PwD categories enjoy relaxation of 5%, i.e. 50% marks would work for them
- Also, those who have qualified Masters by 19th September 1991 avail 5% marks relaxation
- Those appearing in the final years of Masters are eligible to apply
Age Limit –
- For Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Candidates must not be more than 30 years old
- For Assistant Professor (AP): There is no upper age limit for the Assistant Professor post

UGC NET 2019 Application Process
The application process for the National Eligibility Test December 2019 had started on 9th September 2019 and continued till 9th October 2019. It was carried out on the official website of NTA NET (ntanet.nic.in). Candidates were advised to be careful with the spellings of their names, parents’ names, addresses, etc. while filling the application form. Follow the below-
- Go to the official website – www.ntanet.nic.in
- Click on the ‘UGC NET December Application Process 2019’
- A form will appear on the screen
- Fill in the required details – your name, father’s name, mother’s name, gender, email address, Aadhaar card number, etc.
- Click on ‘Submit’
- Note down the system-generated ‘registration number’
- Upload the scanned images of the passport-size photograph and signature
- Make a payment of the application fee
- After successful payment, download the application fee confirmation page and take a printout of the application form for further reference
Note: Take a printout of the acknowledgement page only after when you see the ‘Fee Status’ OK.

UGC NET 2019 Exam Pattern & Syllabus
The examination will be held in online mode. The UGC NET exam comprises of two papers – Paper I and Paper II. Paper-I is of General nature including questions on teaching and research aptitude. It is common for all. Paper-II is subject-related. Candidates are advised to choose the subject (their PG subject) for the exam. Here are further details of UGC NET 2019 exam pattern.

The exam will be conducted in two shifts each day:

UGC-NET Admit Card 2019 (December) –
The admit card for NET December 2019 session has been issued on 10th November. Candidates will be able to download the hall tickets from the official website.

- Log-in with your application number and password
- It is there on the screen
- Download the admit card
- Take a print of it for your further use
Note: Candidates should bear in mind that they need to bring the admit card to the examination centre with a photo identity card, such as aadhaar card, passport, pan card, voters id card, driving license, etc. The NTA UGC NET hall ticket 2019 will contain the name of the candidate, father’s name, mother’s name, coordinating institution, roll number, email id, subject name, exam date and time, venue details, candidates’ passport size photo and useful instructions.
NTA UGC-NET Process 2019 –
The selection of candidates will depend on the following factors:
- Number of slots for a particular category
- Number of candidates belonging to that particular category
- Total number of qualified candidates
- Preference of the candidates (JRF or Lectureship)
UGC NET Answer Key 2019 –
Soon after the examination is over, NTA will release the UGC NET answer key 2019 on its official website within a week. Candidates will be given an option to challenge the provisional answer key on payment of Rs 1000/- per question. NTA’s decision on the challenges made will be final. A revised/ final NTA UGC NET answer key will be released after considering the challenges. The result will be declared on the basis of the final answer key.
Please Note that no request in respect of answer key will be entertained after the declaration of NTA UGC NET result.

UGC NET Cut-off 2019 –
The UGC NET Cut-off will be released by the National Testing Agency on the official website. Separate cut-off lists are released for the JRF & Assistant Professor and Assistant Professor posts. The subject-wise and category-wise cut-offs will be available in the PDF file. As per the official notification, the minimum marks to be obtained for becoming eligible for JRF and Assistant Professor are –

NTA UGC-NET 2019 Result –
The National Testing Agency will declare the UGC-NET result 2019 (December session) by 31st December 2019. It will be accessed on the official website of NTA NET. NET aspirants must provide application number and password to log-in.
UGC NET 2019 June Result –
The UGC NET Result for June 2019 session is available on the official of the NTA NET. Candidates can check their result through the application number and password using the following steps:
- Visit the official NTA Net website – https://ntanet.nic.in/.
- Click on the ‘UGC NET June 2019’ option under the ‘Important Links’
- Click on ‘View Result – UGC NET June 2019’ link.
- Provide your application number, password, and security pin to log-in.
- Your result will appear on the screen; download and take a printout.
UGC will issue the eligibility certificate to candidates who have qualified the exam. The UGC NET merit list will also be uploaded on the official website soon for different categories and subjects.
